Learners
taking this course come from a variety of specializations. For
example, some of you come from the lenses of School, Addictions,
Mental Health, or Career Counseling. Given this variety, apply your
readings and understandings about career theories and consultation in
your specialization to the following case scenario. You may also want
to apply the research findings from the article you found in this
unit, if applicable. Be sure to clearly identify your specialization
in your post.

Read
the scenario below and apply a theoretical framework from either
Holland or Krumboltz. In your discussion, state the theory you are
applying along with the key principles and explain how this theory
could be used to assist the client. The case scenario is brief, but
you may embellish as needed to completely address this discussion.

Scenario

Jose
is a 20-year-old male and just earned his high school diploma. Jose
completed a fifth year of high school to earn the needed credits for
his diploma. Jose has lived with his maternal grandparents since he
was five years old due to his mother’s involvement with illegal
drugs.

Jose
came to the counseling center today because he does not know where to
look for work now that he has completed high school. Jose’s friend,
Tara, told him that you could help him find a job. He worked at a
fast food restaurant for a couple of summers but he does not want to
do that type of work again. Jose is the first to finish high school
in his family and his grandmother told him it is time for him to go
to work so he can help with the family expenses. Jose describes a
very close relationship with his grandmother who gave up a lot to
care for him. She is now 70 and in poor health. She had to stop her
part-time job a few months ago due to illness.

As
you talk with Jose you learn that he failed most of his classes the
first two years of high school, but the last three years he has done
very well. Jose proudly tells you that he graduated with a 2.9 GPA.
Jose does not see himself attending college, because he needs to go
to work to help his grandmother. Jose is soft spoken with limited eye
contact, but is very polite in his responses.

In
this unit you explored the applications of career counseling models.
For this discussion, explain how career development is an integral
part of human development. Then describe how your knowledge in this
area will influence your work with clients or students in your
specialization, using your unit readings, the Career Diamond media
piece, and at least one article to support your perspective.

What types of resources would you use in helping a child or adolescent deal with the questions and the pain associated with the loss of a loved one? Case Analysis – Collaborating with Outside Providers

Prior to beginning work on this assignment, read the PSY650 Week Three Treatment Plan and Case 9: Bulimia Nervosa in Gorenstein and Comer (2014). Please also read the Waller, Gray, Hinrichsen, Mounford, Lawson, and Patient (2014) “Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy for Bulimia Nervosa and Atypical Bulimic Nervosa: Effectiveness in Clinical Settings,”Halmi (2013) “Perplexities of Treatment Resistance in Eating Disorders,” and DeJesse and Zelman (2013) “Promoting Optimal Collaboration Between Mental Health Providers and Nutritionists in the Treatment of Eating Disorders” articles.

Assess the evidence-based practices implemented in this case study. In your paper, please include the following.

• Explain the connection between each theoretical orientation used by Dr. Heston and the treatment intervention plans utilized in the case.
• Describe the cognitive-behavioral model of the maintenance of bulimia nervosa.
• Explain why Rita was reluctant to participate in Dr. Heston’s request for her to keep a record of her eating behaviors. Use information from the Halmi (2013) article “Perplexities of Treatment Resistance in Eating Disorders” to help support your statements.
• Recommend outside providers (psychiatrists, medical doctors, nutritionists, social workers, holistic practitioners, etc.) to the assist Rita in achieving her treatment goals. Use information from the DeJesse and Zelman (2013) “Promoting Optimal Collaboration between Mental Health Providers and Nutritionists in the Treatment of Eating Disorders” article to help support your recommendations.
• Describe some of the challenges and ethical issues that Dr. Heston may encounter when working collaboratively with the professionals that you recommended. Apply ethical principles and standards of psychology relevant to your description of Dr. Heston’s potential collaboration with outside providers.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the treatment interventions implemented by Dr. Heston, supporting your statements with information from the case and two to three peer-reviewed articles from the Ashford University Library.
• Recommend three additional treatment interventions that would be appropriate in this case. The recommended articles for this week may be useful in generating your response to this criterion. Justify your selections with information from the case.

Case Study and Developing a Treatment Plan.

Must be original work with no plagiarism!!!! Please make sure and follow the grading rubric and answer each question to its entirety. My e-textbook with reference is attached. This paper must have in-text citations and sources that I can look up online for free. Paper includes reference to the textbook and four other sources utilized.

Your Assignment will be a 7-10 page paper providing you an opportunity to integrate several of the concepts covered in this class. As you read the text and respond to the assignment questions, keep these concepts in mind. Again, used the grading rubric below as a guide.

Read the case study (BELOW). Begin your paper with a brief overview of at least three of the concepts covered in the course (use textbook attached). Include these concepts as you address the following:

• Evaluate how specific models of health psychology apply to the client in this scenario. Explain in your own words the systemic process that contributes to your client’s healthy or unhealthy habits. Evaluate the mind-body connection between your client and her health.
• Make a list of at least five of your client’s needs, prioritizing them, and develop a plan for meeting these needs. Include two specific actions through which you could become an agent of change to meet the culturally based aspects identified in the above section.
• Using the client’s needs and plan identified above, create a treatment plan for your client. A treatment plan typically includes a diagnosis of the problem based on the client’s history, treatment goals (these should be SMART goals), and steps the client will take in order to achieve the treatment goals. Make sure your plan is specific, measurable, and achievable and that it contains timeframes for the goals to be achieved.
• Explain your rationale for the treatment recommendations in the treatment plan, ensuring that your explanation is thorough enough to demonstrate sound reason.

Case Scenario: Case Study Juanita is a middle-aged Hispanic female. She goes to her doctor because she is having severe, frequent headaches, heart racing, chest pain and dizziness/balance problems. Juanita has a long history of other health issues that her doctor has not been able to explain from a physical point of view. She has also had frequent accidents, falls, etc. Juanita’s doctor has decided that it is time for her to have a complete physical. Her doctor asks her if there is anything else he should know. Juanita tells her doctor that all is fine. Juanita’s doctor is aware that about 8 years ago, Juanita attended and successfully completed an inpatient rehab for alcohol use. Sensing that Juanita might be resistant to opening up with him, her doctor asks her how her recovery is progressing. The doctor wonders if Juanita is eating okay and exercising, since she has lost a lot of weight. Juanita finally tells her doctor that her job is on the line, her youngest child is about to leave home, and she feels depressed. Juanita admits that, as a result of her personal problems, about six weeks ago, she relapsed with alcohol and has been drinking regularly since then. The doctor suspects possible anxiety related problems or panic attacks but is puzzled by the balance problems. He examines her inner ear and finds that her eardrum has been ruptured. However, when inquiring about ear infections, Juanita reports nothing of that nature recently. He tells Juanita that the next logical explanation is head trauma and that based on the numerous unexplained injuries he expects physical abuse. Reluctantly she admits that there is physical violence in her marriage. The doctor states that he knows that there is a major problem with the relapse, and she needs help; she also needs treatment for the domestic violence. The doctor makes an appointment at the local Drug and Alcohol Treatment Center, which specializes in trauma informed care. Juanita agrees to keep the appointment; however, the doctor is concerned that Juanita may not go.
