Scenario: Your sister is seven years old and wants very much to play soccer. She has cerebral palsy; she walks with a limp and she cannot use her left hand. The local youth sport soccer club says that they will not allow her to play because they are concerned with her safety. Your sister wants to file a discrimination suit against the local sport program. You are not sure this is the best strategy.

Instructions: In a separate Microsoft Office, type a written response to the following: using this case as a focal point, explain how sports are “contested activities” and then outline how this case might be analyzed by using cultural theories, interactionist theories, and structural theories.

Explain which set of theories might be the best guide as you recommend a strategy to use when you and your sister meet with the administrator of the local youth sport program. Explain your strategy and why you chose it.
