 Take a look at the importance of strong leadership and planning in both Charleston and Elgin and answer the following questions:

Chapter 6 & Chapter 7 in Designing Healthy Communites by Richard J. Jackson & Stacy Sinclair

• Who were the important players, or partners, in these cities? 
• How did their leadership succeed? 
• How did their leadership fail? 
• What were the long-term goals for each city’s revival?
• Describe your thoughts on the successes and failures in both cities. 

Now, choose a city other than Charleston and Elgin and discuss how your chosen city might benefit from the lessons learned in Elgin and Charleston.

In your response, be sure to identify: 1) your chosen city, 2) a leadership issue(s) in that city and the time period in which it (they) occurred (can be a current issue, too), 3) the leadership involved in the issue, and 4) how the lessons learned in Elgin and Charleston relate to these issues.
