Final Literary Analysis Assignment

For this assignment, you will produce a compare and contrast essay that will analyze two pieces of literature using the analytical process discussed in class. This assignment will be at least 750 words long. In your paper, you will need to focus on one or more of the literary elements discussed in class and your analysis should focus on a single argument that has been clearly stated and outlined in your thesis statement.

For your “new” story, you will analyze Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? And Everyday Use. This is what the assignment is about.

Requirements:

• 750 word length (about two pages)
• Must follow MLA format
• An introductory paragraph that includes a thesis statement
• Body paragraphs that advance the idea stated in the thesis
• A clear conclusion

These short essays are NOT research papers (no sources or citations required) and should be based on your own personal assessment of the story. I will give you more credit for a “wrong” original idea than a “correct” idea taken off the Internet. Do NOT refer to these websites while brainstorming:
