Nietzsche

Friedrich Nietzsche was very different from the philosophers of his time and those who came before him. He denounced the ideas, rationales, and moral teachings of his predecessors. Nietzsche went so far as to mock some of the philosophical teachings that were before him. He subscribed to the philosophy of survival of the fittest. He believed in free spirits rather than conformity. Nietzsche believed that only a few select people were actually “free thinkers” who could ascend to a supreme level of thinking. Nietzsche believed that evolution was not only survival of the fittest but additionally who wanted it the most. “The strongest and highest will to war, a will to power, a will to over power”. Nietzsche is saying that the strongest have a mission that weaker men cannot fathom. These men are able to will themselves to success, to win, to survive. Although Nietzsche makes a very strong case about will and only a only few people being able to transcend normalcy and become truly great thinkers. I would argue that everyone is capable of achieving greatness of the mind. Nietzsche would argue that only the privileged have evolved in human nature, while the rest of society still maintains ideals that were given to them. I would say that great thinkers, great performers, or creators has come from all walks of life not just the privileged. The will to power is in everyone.
