This is much more than traditional home health care or hospice.Dispatch Health is an on demand urgent care at home service that is in many states – this one is a division of United Health Group but there are many others funded by other insures. This service has an NP, PA, or physician and a tech or medical assistant. They are dispatched by a call center and deliver the care needed in the patient’s home. Another service offered by some insurers are “nerve centers” where a patient’s are remotely monitored – sats, heart rhythm, blood glucose. Abnormalities trigger a call from a nurse. Patients have an emergency box containing needed medications and a dedicated telemedicine tablet available to them for two way interaction with a provider for direction for care.All of this is intended to address care needs with the looming shortage of nurses. What do you see potential new roles for nurses in these situations?
