1. Quickly skim the questions or assignment below and the assignment rubric to help you focus.

2. Read the required chapter(s) of the textbook and any additional recommended resources.  Some answers may require you to do additional research on the Internet or in other reference sources.  Choose your sources carefully.

Assignment:

Length: 1500 word essay

Structure: include a title and a reference page. These pages do not count towards the minimum word amount for this assignment.

References: Use at least one APA style in-text citation and references for all resources utilized to answer the questions.

Role: You are writing a journal reflection about how you will develop these habits.

Audience: You are writing to create a portfolio item to show managers.

Situation: You are up for promotion and want to develop an essay to show potential supervisors that you know how to use these habits.

Product/Purpose:

Patients must come first as a priority in healthcare. Create a hypothetical or real scenario where a patient is in need and describe how you would make the patient the first priority in a journal reflection. Use Covey’s book to describe how you would both begin with the end in mind and put first things first to achieve an ethical, culturally-appropriate, patient-centered, and professional outcome. Be sure to cite/reference Covey’s book in APA style.

Standards and Criteria for Success:

The case scenario must involve a patient (if real, the name must be hidden) who you make the first priority. Covey’s book must be used to provide evidence to the interventions you use and properly cited. Your interventions must be ethical, culturally appropriate, patient-centered, and professional.
