Question:

Discuss the influence of the media on the electoral process and its impact on democracy. In what ways do the various mediums (television, radio, internet, social media) promote/hinder political participation? How does the media influence voter choice/public opinion/participation? What influence does it have on primaries, campaigns and the selection of candidates? What can you conclude about the relationships between democracy and the role of the media in the electoral process?

You should examine at least two areas of the election process (primaries, candidate selection/campaigns, participation, etc.). You should also ground your discussion of democracy in the various resources addressed at the beginning of the semester.
