Week 1 Adult Protective Services Discussion

In addition to legal obligations to support and protect varying populations, some professionals are unaware of their responsibility. Discuss the following in your discussion post.

• What mandated reporting laws exist in your state (FLORIDA) regarding elder abuse and neglect? Remember, adult protective services also protect adults who are vulnerable due to physical and/or mental limitations.

• Provide an example of a situation where adult protective services might need to be contacted. Be specific. Give examples.

• Who would you contact to make a report i.e. name of the agency including hotline number?
